Jamar Hébert is a resident of Newberry, Florida where he holds a B.S. in Business Administration.
Born and raised in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Jamar Hébert has been committed to achieving his goals and being a leader since his childhood.
At the young age of 13, Hébert was recognized by the National Conference of Christian and Jews and received his first prestigious award, “The Brotherhood/Sisterhood Award”, for his commitment to the advancement of Justice, Amity, and Peace. He was a high school graduate of Southern University A&M Laboratory School where he first began to realize his quest for community leadership and involvement. There, not only was he honored to serve as President of his class for four years, but Hébert also held positions as both Vice President and President of his Student Government Association.
Hébert continues to strive for excellence in both his professional and personal life. He is employed at a top telecommunications company where he serves in a leadership capacity as a Partner Manager for the Customer Care organization. Jamar also formerly served as his company’s Chairman of the Diversity and Inclusion Council for the Southeast Region. In both of these roles, Hebert has been dedicated to serving and enriching others. Hébert was nominated and selected for the distinguished titles of Florida/Georgia’s Leader of the Year and Public Affairs Partner of the Year for 2011. In early 2016, Jamar announced the establishment of his own company, J. Hébert Companies. The organization is a multi-faceted investment company with holdings currently or being considered in various industries including fashion, entertainment, management, consulting, book publishing, insurance, health/fitness, travel, education, technology, and more. J. Hébert Companies will bridge the gap between consumer needs and wants through strategic investments, brand development and managing business opportunities.
Hébert understands that life is about balance, and he is able to successfully manage his work and career with his family, and being a provider for his children, Jarius, Peyton, Maddox, and Morgan. In addition, Hébert is a community supporter and is a member of several public service organizations. Those include, but are not limited to organizations such as The 100 Black Men of Metro Baton Rouge, where he served on The Capital High Academics Committee and Communications Team and The National Association for Multi-ethnicity in Communications (NAMIC), where he was a participant in the L. Patrick Mellon Mentorship Program. Fulfilling a lifelong dream, Hébert was inducted into Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., the first intercollegiate Greek-letter fraternity established for African-Americans.
Hébert’s passion and interests are in public service, financial empowerment, and the arts. He continued to donate his time and efforts as a member of St Francis Xavier Catholic Church and by volunteering with The Boys and Girls Club, Boy Scouts of America, and Capital High Academy until his recent relocation to Florida. He understands the importance of leading by example and his favorite quote is “People the world over have always been more impressed by the power of our example than by the example of our power".
Along with his many other accomplishments, Mr. Hébert was also the past recipient of the National Young Leaders Scholar Program in Washington, D.C. and the recipient of the Chancellor Scholarship Award from Southern University. Hébert won District and State competitions for his oratory “Keeping the Dream Alive” in the Louisiana High School Rally Association, and also won for his performance in Grambling State University’s Annual Drama Festival. He also participated in Boys State Girls State, which includes prestigious former Alumni, former President Bill Clinton, Senator Harry Reid, Coach Nick Saban, Rush Limbaugh, and Tom Brokaw to name a few.
In addition to his academic and professional achievements, Hébert proved that he had entertainment talent as well. Throughout his high school and early college years, Hébert performed with a singing group, and based on his talent was invited to perform the National Anthem at the Congressional Black Caucus Conference in 1996.
Hébert continues to set high expectations for himself. In 2020, He co-founded the 100 Black Men of Greater Florida Gainesville, a mentoring organization dedicated to enhancing the lives of African Americans in the community. Hébert serves as the organization’s inaugural President. He is a former Board Member of the Boys and Girls Club of Alachua County and PACE Center for Girls – Alachua, and is also a past participant in the Cox Enterprises, Inc. 2012 Mentoring Program and Leadership Gainesville 39, a year-long community leadership program sponsored by the Gainesville Area Chamber of Commerce.
Hébert has proven leadership and service skills, and is devoted to the enrichment of others, which is one reason he has chosen to write a book on accomplishing your goals in life, “Dream It. Plan It. Do It.”, which was released in January of 2018. Hébert promises this is just the beginning of his journey.
